For a real estate, it is highly important to count with a good team that reflects productivity and resilience, because these are the two essential factors that increase the level of productivity.

On the other hand, the real estate agent with a high level of resilience might turn into a much more effective professional. The setting of a real estate has a series of particular characteristics.

The most effective way to get a healthy and productive circle is to manage to increase the level of resilience inside the real estate.

When a real estate manages to increase the level of productivity of its team, it gets spectacular results. When it manages to increase that level for the whole collective, it converts into a healthy organization.

And when the real estate manages to mix the proactive attitude of the real estate agents with resilience, it becomes stronger and stronger.

Depending of the sources, the definition of resilience might vary significantly. Resilience is not a concept strictly used as a certain field. On the contrary, this concept can be found in professional areas as medicine or engineering.

The Spanish Institute of Resiliency has a special and simple way to resume the concepts of resilience depending on the professional area:

  • Resilience comes from Latin “resilire” and means to squeeze or to bounce back.
  • In engineering, the resiliency of a material is its capacity to absorb before starting to deform itself.
  • In traumatology, resilience is the capacity of the bone tissue to grow in the natural way after suffering an injury.
  • In neuroscience, resilience is the capacity to confront an adverse situation, overcome it and end up with more strength.
  • For the positive psychology, resilience is the capacity to recover after a trauma, while for the traditional psychology the concept is linked more to the overcoming of emotional crisis.

Although these definitions do not seem to be linked in some way, they all have a common aspect as they all define resilience as a capacity. We are talking about the capacity of a material to adapt, or a tissue to recover or a person to confront the adverse situations.

Regarding its organization, for a real estate is highly important that its agents manage to confront all the situations related to their everyday working day. It is also important that the real estate team could positively solve any adverse situation in a collective way.

Resilience in a real estate.

The most important asset of a real estate is its team, but also resilience can be seen as an essential asset, as is the capacity to confront professional adverses and manage them satisfactorily. The real estate area reflects a setting that creates a high level of uncertainty and requires a high capacity to adapt to the change.

The organizational is resiliency a collective capacity that any real estate should try to achieve in order to get higher levels of productivity.

In order to gain that, a real estate must see resilience as a factor that facilitates the adaptability to changes. Moreover, resilience is a key factor in order to get the objectives planned inside the firm, of course, with the help of the real estate team.

A real estate which stimulates resilience among its real estate team, will manage to get the capacity to confront any type of adverse situation, manage it and transform it into something positive.

A real estate team with a high level of collective resilience will enjoy the commercial opportunities in a better way and it will also manage the negative situations more efficient changing them into productive ones.

In a setting as the one of a real estate, resilience is essential in order to get high levels of productivity. The area in which a real estate is located as a company is in a constant change. That is why a real estate must be capable to adapt to the changes.

Any real estate that adapts to the area´s changes and has a high level of collective resilience manages to position itself better and might also become a reference in this sector.

Organizational resilience inside the real estate.

  • Resilience makes easier the organizational policy established for difficult situations.
  • Resilience allows any real estate member to overcome any adverse situations, adapt to changes and maintain the level of productivity.

Resilience is the capacity to confront any adversity by using the necessary psychological sources in order to become stronger and reach an excellent personal and professional status.

This definition cited above shows the importance of a real estate to count with a team capable to confront adversities, both personal and professional ones.

In this sector, almost daily the professionals have to confront and solve negative situations derived from personal interactions or inside the agency.

Something very important and not very understood by the real estate is the fact that any real estate agent has a private life and that means he/she has personal conflicts and situations to confront with and solve.

A real estate professional has the right of express his/her feelings or personal problems and not cut them off when they enter into the office. Most of the times, any real estate specifies to their team that “all personal problems should stay out of the office”.

Theoretically, this is true but when it comes to practice, this turns out to be different and only a third of the population can manage its resilience.

On the other hand, we come across the fact that the real estate area shows a high level of self-interest.

In some occasions, the real estate stimulates that behavior thinking wrong on the fact that a harsh professional competiveness will improve the productivity of the real estate agents.

Stimulating the professional competitiveness is one thing, but there is something else when we pass from aggression to passive violence.

From there on, the problem inside the real estate might get to be very serious and damage the real estate interests.

It is also frequent to detect inside the real estate field the negative synergies as predominant functional characteristics.

The negative synergies inside the real estate generated by one or several members of the team might be devastating for the organization and the business.

If the members of the real estate team don’t count with a high level of resilience, the negative synergies will damage them and this reflects on the level of productivity of the members.

The level of productivity of a member of the real estate team will always affect the collective results and the low productivity in a team is also the consequence of the low levels of individual assertiveness and resilience.

When in a real estate field the low resilience confronts the little assertiveness, the real estate will be affected both on its productivity levels as in its collective efficiency.

A good example to understand better what has been said.

Let´s suppose that there are one or more members with low levels of assertiveness in the real estate team, but there is also only one assertive and proactive person, but with levels of resilience not too high.

In this situation, that person will probably cannot manage the negative synergies as he/she is supposed to. As a consequence, his/her level of productivity will be damaged.

Here you have another explanation: a member of the real estate team is assertive and proactive, his levels of productivity are high and he is a good asset for the real estate, but the problem is that he is not capable of solving the consequences of the less assertive behavior of other members.

This is very simple, one can be a proactive and assertive member of the real estate team, but if he/she does not count with a good capacity of resilience, he/she will not confront the adversities in form of negative synergies.

In those circumstances, the member of the real estate team who is a good asset for the real estate will stop being it as a consequence of his low productivity.

In the same time, the real estate sector generates high levels of stress. If the real estate members do not count with a good level of resilience, they will not manage to overcome the situation. Inside a real estate, stress is generated through the professional activity and by the fact that professionals should be constantly confront and solve the adverse situations.

Resilience can also be valued as the capacity to manage those situations generated by stress.

We know that stress has always been a factor that affects individual and collective productivity of the real estate in a negative way.
